Mountain View Oktoberfest returns October 10 and 11 for its 11th annual celebration, bringing two days of Bavarian tradition, live music, German food, contests and plenty of Gemütlichkeit to the heart of Downtown Mountain View. Presented by the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce, the free community celebration returns to Castro Street from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM both Saturday and Sunday. Following the festival's successful move onto Castro Street last year, the 2026 edition will expand another block, creating a larger downtown footprint and more room for the thousands of guests who have made Mountain View Oktoberfest a fall tradition. What began in 2013 as a collaboration between Steins Beer Garden, Tied House Brewery and the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce has grown into one of the region's signature Oktoberfest celebrations. Attendance has climbed beyond 30,000 in recent years, drawing guests from throughout the Bay Area for a weekend built around German food, beer, music and tradition. At the center of the celebration is the festival's massive 200 foot Festzelt, where long communal tables, live German music and beer served in true glass steins and boots create the atmosphere of a traditional Bavarian beer hall right in the middle of Silicon Valley. A Bigger Taste of Germany The German Guys return in 2026 with an expanded menu of German favorites, giving guests even more ways to experience Oktoberfest through its food. From sizzling sausages and schnitzel to strudel and other German specialties, the larger menu will complement a curated selection of German style and imported beers and wines served throughout the weekend. The Bands Are Back Two returning crowd favorites will once again provide the soundtrack beneath the Festzelt both days. Deutscher MusikVerein takes the stage from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM Saturday and Sunday with traditional German music that sets the tone for an afternoon of dancing, singing and stein raising. BlowMusik! follows from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM both days, bringing its high energy take on German and Oktoberfest music to close out each evening. Oktoberfest Traditions Return Some traditions are simply too much fun to change. The festival's signature Stein Holding Competition returns to put strength and endurance to the test as competitors attempt to keep a full stein held at arm's length longer than their rivals. Guests are also encouraged to arrive dressed for the occasion. The Bavarian Attire Contest will once again recognize standout dirndls, lederhosen and Oktoberfest style, with prizes and bragging rights on the line. Throughout the weekend, dancing, games, communal tables and live entertainment create an Oktoberfest experience designed for families, groups of friends and guests of all ages. From a Local Celebration to a Downtown Tradition The continued expansion of Mountain View Oktoberfest reflects how far the celebration has come since its beginnings more than a decade ago. Last year's move onto Castro Street marked a major evolution for the event, bringing Oktoberfest front and center in Downtown Mountain View.
